GENtools Menu

All of our tools can be accessed from the GENtools Menu in Maya, and each one is placed inside a subcategory.

The menu allows us to group all of our tools together at a same place, but for easier and quicker access, we recommend to either create shelf buttons, add hotkeys, or, for some, you can also access them from the marking menus.

From the GENtools Menu, you also have access to the Startup Settings to enable or disable tools loading when you launch Maya.

When you launch Maya, the GENtools Menu is automatically created according to the tools currently installed. Any tool marked for load on startup will also be loaded. You can see all the loading details inside the script editor. If a tool is not starting, it is the place you should check for errors.

Creating shelf buttons #

In Maya, you can create a button on your shelf for any item in a menu.
Simply put your mouse on top of an item and press SHIFT+CTRL+LMB and it will create a button on your current shelf.

Check Updates #

MAYA 2017+ ONLY

From the GENtools Menu, you can check if new updates are available to download by clicking on the Check Updates button.

If a new update is available and not yet installed, you will be reminded each time you open Maya.
You can choose to skip a version by clicking on the Ignore button.

Disabling the GENtools Menu #

If you do not want the GENtools Menu to be created when launching Maya, you can disable the Menu creation by editing the GENtools config file.
