Tool Settings

The Curve To Polygons Options provides a few settings to customize the look of the tube / pipe geometry.

After creating your pipe, you can edit these settings by selecting the curveToPoly node in the channel box or the attribute editor. You can modify these parameters as long as you do not delete the history on the curve or on the output geometry.

Radius #

This parameter controls the thickness of the tube. Increasing the value creates a bigger tube circumference.

Subdivisions Axis #

This parameters controls the number of segments around the circumference of the tube. Increasing the value creates a smoother tube.

Density #

This parameter controls the segments density along the tube length. Increasing the value creates a smoother tube.

  • The segments density is based on the position of each control vertex so if you want to keep density only around the shape curvature, you can set a high density value and use the Reduce function on the geometry afterwards.

Hard edges #

This parameters controls the shading of the tube subdivisions. Turning the value on makes the edges shading sharp, off makes the edges shading smooth.

Smoothing #

This parameter allows to smooth out the path curvature of the tube geometry.

Flatness #

This parameter allows to flatten out the tube geometry. At the maximum value of 1, the tube becomes a planar surface instead.

Orientation #

This parameter allows to rotate the tube geometry around the curve path.
It can be helpful when paired with the Flatness parameter to set the correct orientation on planar surfaces.

Twist #

This parameter allows to twist the tube geometry around the curve path. A higher value increases the number of twists.

Taper #

This parameter allows to linearly decrease the tube radius along the curve path.
A negative value apply the taper at the beginning, a positive value apply the taper at the end.
