Tool Installation

To install the Placement Tool, first you need to download the provided executable file from the product in your Artstation library.

Run the executable and follow the instructions to complete the installation.

  • Take a look at the GENtools Installer page for more informations and step-by-step instructions.

You can then start Maya and the Placement Tool should initialize on startup and be available to use from the GENtools menu or the hotkey editor.

  • If your Maya application was opened during the installation, you will need to restart the application for changes to take effect.

Tool requirements

The Placement Tool requires the PyMEL module to be installed, make sure to have it installed or the tool will not work.

If PyMEL is not installed, you will need to either re-install your Maya and make sure the PyMEL checkbox is checked during the installation or you could try to follow the instructions at the link below to install PyMEL manually.
