GENtools Marking Menu

The GENtools Menu can be accessed from Maya’s viewport in form of a marking menu. To take effect, all you have to do is to assign a hotkey to the GENtools Marking Menu and use the hotkey to open the marking menu.

Assigning a hotkey #

To assign a hotkey to the GENtools Marking Menu, open the Maya hotkey editor and find the hotkey entry in the Custom Scripts tab under GENtools → Marking Menus → GENtools Marking Menu.

  • To work properly, you need to assign the same hotkey to both the Press and Release function and make sure the release function is set to “On Release”.

How to use #

  • Assign a hotkey to the GENtools Marking Menu press and release functions.
  • Press the assigned hotkey and hold the LMB to open the marking menu.
  • Navigate through the menu and release your mouse on an item to run the item’s function.
